As I said, this is my last blogpost about Alanya, but who knows - maybe this blog will developed into an travelblog where you can read about more destinations than Alanya?
Thank You and I hope you will come back to my blog soon!
I will finish my blog with a "picture-bomb" with some of my best memories from Alanya.
Alanya - I hope we will see each other again soon!

Alanya has the ability that if you have visit the city once, you are not satisfied, you have to go back. I, my family and my friends who have visited Alanya say that they would rather go back to Alanya than a greek city they previously visited. And then you can ask the question: how is that? Is it because of the feeling in the city? Experiences? Or because the Turks are so nice and lovely? Why is Alanya such a popular and well-liked destination for tourists of all ages?
It is very common for destinations, mainly in Europe, to get a stamp over it that symbolizes what the city has to offer. A known example is Paris and Romanticism. If you were to describe Alanya with one word, I can guarantee that the majority would say party. Obviously, the symbolstamps are based on a cause, which agrees that Paris is a romantic city and Alanya is a city full of party. However, it is seldom the outside that defines one's content, but the entire contents.
Alanya is a combination of a fast-paced, familly-friendly and relaxing destination. The turkish city has something to offer for all ages no matter what gender you are or what interests you have. Whether you are looking for peace & tranquility, adventure, fitness, party, forest adventures, history, cooking, adrenaline, relaxation or a good beer, you can find it in Alanya. Although there are many different choices of activities, so does one not disturb the other. For example if you do not want party, will it not disturb you. Alanya is "constructed" as a sound society for everyone's interest.
The unique in Alanya that make the city stand out is the turkish culture. The turkish kitchen is a mix of influences from around the Mediterranean, fascinating is also the turkish traditions and history behind the cliff and the castle. Sure, Greece has Acropolis and Souvlaki, even small Karlskrona has a rope-bridge, but no other city has a pointed cliff with a castle wall that overlooks the ocean. No other country can serve Dönerkebab or the small Alanyabananas.
Turkish traditions like picking eyebrows with string, shaving with a knife and fire, hamam and folkdance is an important part of the turkish society and also the tourism in the country. Turks are not shy or afraid to show off their traditions, their country or its people. which means that during your vacation, you will definitely get to know the turkish climate.
I have traveled in Europe and experienced many wonderful destinations in both Greece, Italy, Spain and Croatia. But it was only in Alanya that I discovered several activities and experiences beyond the traditional field of tourism as banana boating, cheap shopping, ice cream bars or cozy beachwalks. Alanya offers unique experiences that you can not find the equivalent in other European countries. A clear favorite for me was MyPet, while my dad appreciated the locally brewed beer and my sister enjoyed a walk through the mountains with caves and beautiful waterfalls. Together we most enjoyed the excursions to Manavgat and Dimcay which are both experiences on some amazing rivers.
The typical turkish in combination with all the fun and unique things I've written about to see, do, taste and experience is what makes Alanya becoming a popular destination. Besides, Turkey is the most sun safe option around the Mediterranean. There is a reason why Turkey and Alanya is placed on topthree-destinations on both Ving and Apollo. The most important factor is that Alanya is a prime destination for both young and old, singles and couples, friends or families with children, young people or seniors. An ultimate destination offering something for everyone - something Alanya live up to.
Alanya is the European equivalent to The Big Apple and The City That Never Sleeps, but the city may instead call itself The Big Banana (Alanya bananas). The turkish city is a city that you never get tired of, and that there is always something to do in. Why not go there and experience Alanya you too?
Do you agree with me about my conclusion?

In this post I will show you my top-5-list about Alanya and I am gonna let the pictures speak for themselves!

Something that is very famous about Turkey is their national food. When you are going to Alanya you have to try some of their specialties. You can find all types of food from kebab to pancakes to fruit. The turkish food is very popular with tourists and and often become that dish you want to eat again before you go home from your vacation.
Döner Kebab:
Propably the most famous turkish dish - it is a real kebab in a bread filled with paper-thin slices of meat, lettuce, onion and tomato. Perfect for you who loves kebab.
Ayran give the best coolness on a hot summerday. The drink is made of yoghurt, water and a pinch of salt which is mixed until it becomes fluffy.
When you are at the restaurant and have order your course, the waiter comes with a turkish bread together with some dips. It is like a starter before your dinner.
Chee Köfte:
Chee Köfte is a turkish specialty consisting of raw beef imixed with spices, herbs, onions and bulgur. It is different, but very good. Advised to eat along with water because of the spices.
Apple tea:
You can find apple tea anywhere in Alanya. When you are shopping, getting hamam or doing pedicure - the turks will offer you apple tea. If you like tea, apple tea is very tasty and good.
Gözleme is crispy, delicious pancakes cooked over an open fire on a large round plate. The pancakes are often filled with potatoes, spinach and cream cheese, but you can also choose to take it as a dessert and fill it with chocolate, jam or sugar instead.
The special Alanya banana is smaller, sweeter and more curved than regular bananas. Because of the bananas rapid maturation, it can not be transported long distances, meaning it can only be eaten in Turkey.
Enjoy your meal!

The cosiest and most comfortable thing to do on a hot summer day in Alanya is to go up to the river Dimcay which is about 30 min away from Alanya. There you can enjoy the cooler climate and fresh mountain water.
In the river there is a restaurant who is serving lunch and dinner, icecream and cool drinks. You are eating on a float with table and sofas. Over the float there is a small roof, so you get some shadow. The food was excellent and the staff was very pleasant.
After the lunch you can take the opportunity to take a swin in the river. You can jump from a trampoline or swing from a vine.

Dimcay is the perfect combination of fun, relaxing, swimming, eating and excursion!

Sapadere is a beautiful and breathtaking waterfall. The waterfall is located 50 kilometers from Alanya up in the mountain, which means it is a fullday-excursion. Best and easiest way to get there is to rent a car or join a company who make tours up in the mountain (a tour mostely make more stops on the way).
A walk through Sapadere is very relaxing and lovely. You hear the water rushing, the wind whizzing and the nature is wonderful.
As you get to Sapadere, it costs 10 turkish lira for entrance, meaning 5 euro or 40 swedish crowns.
It is a long way to get to Sapadere, but the visit will not let you down!

Do you like to cook?
Alanya has a novelty among the experinces  - a cooking course. At the top of the mountain with an unbeatable view, you can learn to cook a tradional turkish dish and taste some of the most delicious turkish wines. When you are finished with your courses you will all sit down together and eat, drink some wine and enjoy the view. The course is between 9-14 and the price is 65 euro per person. The price include:
Turkish Cooking Classes
Wine Tasting Course
Taste local specialties

This is an amazing day which is educational, fun and you meet a lot of wonderful teammates.

This experience is perfect for you who likes cooking, meeting new people and learn more about turkish food!

A good tips is to rent a car if you want to see more in Alanya and maybe outside the city as well. For 24 hours you can rent a car for 60 turkish lira, which represent 30 euro or 240 swedish crowns. The price do not include gasoline, but the gas is very cheap in Turkey (you may have to return the car with a full tank, depending on how much it was in the tank when you got the car). We rent our car at the company "Force Rental", but you can find rentals for cars and mopeds almost everywhere. You have to be 18 years old and have a drivinglicens to be able to rent a car.
Drive safely!

Dim Cave is an old, big and unique stalactite cave who is located 10 kilometres east of Alanya. It is the second largest stalactite cave in Turkey. Inside the cave you walk on footbridges and staircases while you are surrounded by fanciful rockformations. At the far end of the cave and 17 meters below the entrance lies a lake.
The cave is open every day between 9.00-17.30 and the price is 9.50 turkish lira per person, which represent 5 euro or 40 swedish crowns.

I recommend Dim Cave to you who want to see an incredible view and amazing attractions!

Every friday there is a big market on the bazaar called Friday Bazaar. Turks are selling fruit, vegetables and spices that they have grown themselves for a very low price. My sister bought 1 kilo of strawberries for 1 turkish lira, which is 50 cent or 4 swedish crowns. It is perfect to pass the market on the way to the beach and buy with you some fruit.
Friday Bazaar is located at the busstation, ask anyone you meet and they can tell you the way. It is really nice to have been to a bazaar market because it is such a mood with the local people and the tourists. You also experience a part of the turks reality.
It is a cozy feeling over markets!

If you like water, swimming and excitement, River Rafting is something for you. You go in a big rubberboat and you paddles together. During the ride it will be speed, waves and splashes.
River Rafting is a fullday-excursion who starts at 8 o´clock in the morning. The company will pick up all the guests at thier hotels and then drive you up to the mountains (the drive takes around 2 hours). The first moment to do is a safetyintroduction followed by fitting of helmet and lifejacket. You choose by your self if you want to wear swinsuits or clothes (shorts and a top) under your lifejacket, but the water is quite cold up in the mountains.
In the river you paddle a loop of 2-3 hours. In the rubberboat there is also a instructor during the whole time who gives you help and instructions. Sometimes when it high speed and a sharp turn, the boat could tip and you will fall into the water. It is not dangerous in any way, but you should not be afriad of water or anything like that.
You are 10 persons in one rubberboat. If you are more than 10 persons, it is 2, maybe 3 rubberboats and then it is more like a competition between the boatteams. This is really fun!
The price for a River Rafting - day is 48 turkish lira, which represent 24 and 192 swedish crowns. Lunch, the transer from and to the hotel and the rafting equipment is included in the price.
Here we go!
